Here is a bit more about the quadrants:

• Zone of Confrontation: When trying to address a target issue of concern or urgency, actions here should take the greatest priority, as they are both more direct and aimed at confronting power in some way.

• Zone of Reclamation: Actions here are not explicitly related to the target issue but are still about disempowering the system that enabled the crisis to occur. Such acts of reclaiming power remain important for addressing the underlying roots of the “mushrooming of catastrophes.”

• Zone of Co-optation: Actions here are symbolically or superficially carried out in the name of the issue of target, but their impacts of possibly reinforcing existing, unjust power structures render them subject to co-optation.

• Zone of Normalization: Actions here neither address the the issue nor question the status quo, so they perpetuate normalizing systemic violence.
